A cold wave, including heavy snowfall, has caused the isolation of numerous communities in the eastern, central and high plateau regions of Algeria.
About 25 000 families have been affected by the adverse weather conditions, which have entailed loss of livelihoods. Homes have been damaged, especially the tents used by the nomadic population. The need for food and relief items such as blankets, clothing and mattresses has been identified.
